Well it is another new year and I am excited about the upcoming year. Last year I had a lot of personal successes with regard to triathlon and running. I would say the biggest was that I can still improve in all three areas of the tri.
This year has already started off well as I have hit the ground running, so to speak, and bursting with enthusiasm. I had a bit of a rest after Silverman which was well deserved. Now rest for me is not inactivity, it just meant enjoying workouts with no structure and just for maintaining fitness.
My goals for this year are not lofty. I just want to do a lot of events, similar to last year. In 2010 I did a 10 mile race, a 21 km leg of the Banff Jasper Relay, on Olympic Distance race, half marathon, full marathon and a full Ironman. I would say that covers all the basic food groups! This year I would like to do at least that many again. Of course I still want to do a sub three hour marathon and with missing it by 2 minutes last year I know it is still possible.
Today I turn 51 and I must admit I feel no different than when I was 25. There has to be something said for all this working out! Good luck to everyone in 2011 and may you achieve all your personal and fitness goals. Remember a journey of a 1,000 miles begins with a single step!
Have a great week!
